The system has a deflecting system with a deflective fitting (10) for guiding a safety belt, and a force sensor (12). The fitting is coupled with the sensor such that a force component is transferred to the sensor. An electronic control unit is provided to control a belt size adjustment device for shifting the deflecting system towards a vehicle height, so that the belt runs within the shoulder range of a passenger at a given angle. The force component operates on the deflective fitting in the direction of central axis of a fastening bolt (18). The fitting is hinged on the fastening bolt that is connected with a solid component (22) of the vehicle.
