The hinge has an upper section (1) connected to the inner side of the front bonnet of a motor vehicle, and lower section (2) connected to the body. The upper hinge section is connected to the lower via a lever arm (4) which has a first (3) and a second (5) pivot point. The lever arm can act on a spring element (6) installed on the lower hinge section in such a way that the spring element acts on the lever arm in the initial position of the hinge with a force which is applied outside the second pivot point of the lever arm, whereby the lower hinge section has means for the fixing of the lever arm in the initial position which interact with the lever arm outside the second pivot point of the lever arm.
