Electronic banking appliance uses mobile telephone (32) and identification device with memory and transponder for contact and/or wireless transmission of data, stored in memory, for authorizing bank customer for business and/or allocated to respective customer for any other purpose. Mobile telephone contains receiver (20) for data transmitted by transponder. Preferably, identification device is part of contactless chip cart (22), or wristwatch (24). Mobile telephone may incorporate processor of data received by receiver, or via keyboard (20) for transmission over mobile radio network.
