A computer unit (CU) (12) acts inside a computer system as a virtual CU. A control device (CD) (14) controls the virtual CU with knowledge about its operating status. The CD links to a supervisory monitor (SM) (2) and sends a negative report about the virtual CU's operating status to the SM if the operating status indicates a virtual CU that cannot function properly.
