The device has a spacer unit forming closed folding flaps (2-5) made of a cardboard material. A cardboard area (6) is in a laminar shape and forms a single-piece integral unit with the folding flaps. A set of intersecting lines (12) is designed such that they end at a distance from flap edges and run parallel to each other from the edge of the flaps to opposite lying edge of the flaps in the cardboard area. An independent claim is also included for a folding box of a polygonal cross section with a shock absorbing device.
