The airbag device (1) has a housing (4), a main gas generator (5) and an airbag (13) whereby controllable blow-off devices (2) are arranged at the housing for the reduction of gas pressure in the housing. The controllable blow-off devices have an opening in the housing and a closure part (12), removable from the opening by an actuation device (7,8,9,10). An independent claim is also included for the method for controlling the airbag vehicle.
