The pile (1) is a double-walled tube. The annulus between the outer wall (14) and the inner wall (15) is filled with granular- or other sound-attenuating material (17), especially sand. The pile is driven by a drop-hammer or ram into the ground. Attachments (18, 19) in the form of bridging-sections or fins between the inner and outer walls, are orientated parallel to, or at right angles to the axis (22), to stabilize the ram tube. Sand is filled into the annulus either before or after placing the pile on the ground surface.
