A method for manufacturing dichroic glass polarizers with viewing angle independent color- and polarization-action, in which under the surface at a depth of less than 1 micron and up to 10 microns in the carrier material are embedded tri-axis metal colloids as they arise during the manufacturing process of wide glass strips by thermo-mechanical deformation of large flat glass plates. In the glass plates having trichroism, a local energy input into the surface by means of electrons- or laser-radiation results, so that a form relaxation of the colloid takes place, in which the full relaxation by the input of energy, is only undertaken for the two half-axes (b,c) of the original tri-axis colloid (2), assume an equal size and the length of the long half-axis (a) remains relatively unchanged, but neglectively is only slightly changed.
