Casting chamber (1), especially for a pressure casting machine with a charging opening (2) for the metal and a casting piston which can be displaced along the longitudinal axis of the chamber by a drive. The casting chamber has an inner tube (3) surrounded by a steel cover (5) and a heat insulaing layer (4) on the surface of its outer envelope (sic). A INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method of preparing the casting chamber as described above.
