Method for recognizing a steady mounting of a system, particularly a computer tomography system, in which measurement sets comprising a number of measurements of different rotations of the system are recorded and then the scatter of each measurement set determined. The scatter of each measurement set is compared with a threshold value, and the system classified as steady if the scatter is less than the threshold. An independent claim is made for a method for detecting the steady mounting of CT system as part of a method for correcting the imbalance of a gantry.
