The printing plate clamping system uses magnets to clamp the or each printing plate (12) on the print cylinder (11). The magnets (16) are mounted on the cylinder and the ends (13,14) of the printing plate have ferromagnetic elements (17), or vice versa. The or each magnet element is preferably a permanent magnet. The printing plate can be made from aluminium and the magnet elements are fixedly connected to same.
