The method for the manufacture of a destructible mould core for metal casting entails the use of a porously designed original form which is produced by means of a rapid prototyping method. The releasing of the green mould core from the porous original form takes place by chemical loosening. In addition, colloidal nanoparticles are applied to the green mould core, and heating carried out in such a way that organic component parts of the green mould core are outgassed and the colloidal nanoparticles are sintered, forming a stable outer skin of the mould core. An independent claim is included for a use for a destructible mould core which is for the casting of component parts for internal combustion engines from steel or light metal.
