The method involves entering liquid fuel into an air extraction duct (16), separating the liquid fuel in a liquid separator (14) and leading back the liquid fuel into a fuel tank (10). The liquid separator is arranged between the fuel tank and the air extraction duct at an activated carbon-tank (17). The liquid separator is connection upstream of the air extraction duct at the activated carbon-tank. An independent claim is also included for a device for separation of a fuel air mixture and separation of fuel from the mixture.
