Drive motion of an eccentric (12, 13) or crank is converted into linear movement of the press plunger (5) by a mechanism including an articulated lever (14), of which the third center of rotation (17) is led in a guide (23) permitting rotation. The guide is a slot or rail including linear- and/or curved section(s). It is supported on the machine frame (2), optionally by a bearing permitting it to move.
