A baseplate(4) which rests on the formable material(9) has a fastener(3) on one side to connect with another component. One or more attachment pins(6) on the other side of the baseplate engage the formable material. Each pin(6) is welded or riveted onto the baseplate(4) and has a barb(7) to grip material in which it is embedded. The free end of each pin is pointed(10) and pins are arranged around part of a circle. Holes(5) pass through the baseplate, which is preferably polygonal to prevent rotation. Fasteners can be threaded pins or sleeves, plain sleeves, bolts or similar components which are riveted or welded onto the baseplate. An independent claim is included for a component or semi-finished product of fiber-reinforced material including the claimed fastener.
