The circuit has a potentiometer with a resistor (2) including two terminals (2a, 2b), and a pickup (3). The terminals are electrically connected with supply and earth potentials, respectively. The terminals (2a, 2b) and a terminal (3a) of the pickup are electrically connected with a terminal of an analog-to-digital converter. The terminal (3a) is combinable with the supply potential or earth potential by a transistor (7). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a control circuit for a tank sensor.
