Monitoring thermal loading of component driven intermittently, e.g. in motor vehicle braking system, by determining maximum allowable thermal load from time relationship between drive phase and rest phase
The method involves measuring the drive period during the drive phase, and measuring the rest period during the rest phase. A thermal loading parameter that represents the maximum allowable thermal load on the component is calculated from the time relationship between the drive phase and rest phase. An independent claim is included for a computer program product.
