The system has a laminar vehicle part and a gas bag. The bag comprises a wall with two sections, where one section faces a passenger and other section faces the laminar vehicle part. The latter section comprises a venting hole that is partly closed in case of collision of the passenger on the former section. The latter section comprises a contact surface (A1) whose dimension depends on weight and/or collision impulse of the passenger. An independent claim is also included for a method for restraining a passenger of a vehicle.
