Process for dissolving and cleaning contaminant-containing paper tubes

The method is used to clean contaminant-containing, in particular heavy particles contaminated paper or pulp suspensions. The suspension (S) is guided into a closed sieve apparatus (2) whose sieve (3) has a cylindrical or conical shape and is provided with sorting slots (23), which are preferably relatively wide. The method is applied to paper or pulp suspensions which are introduced from an open pulper (1) or secondary pulper into the sieve (2) without further cleaning or deflaking. The method allows reliable removal of coarse contaminants while high throughput through the sifter (2).
