The device has a sensor component (3) integrated in a motor vehicle seat (1) for determining occupancy condition. An electrical control (7) is provided in the seat for analysing the occupancy condition determined by the component. The electrical control is connected with a control unit using a connecting cable (6). The electrical control is applied based on the output of analysis of electrical current produced in the connecting cable.
