The method involves modulating the OFDM signal subcarriers of an OFDM-based transmission system using quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) or phase shift keying (PSK), and producing replication of the original constellation using well-known translation vectors to form an expanded constellation for each point of the original constellation. The expanded constellation, which includes the same information as the original constellation, provides different alternatives and possibilities to minimize spectral side lobes or provide better interrogation path for side lobe suppression. An independent claim is included for the use of the spectral side lobe suppression method.
