The rolling-up device for a seat belt (2) has a shaft (4) and a main drive spring (7). A locking wheel (12) can rotate relative to the shaft. It has a compensating spring (20) to transmit a pre-tension to the shaft to oppose the pre-tension of the main drive spring. The force transfer between the compensating spring and the locking wheel is achieved by frictional resistance.
