The method involves receiving protocol data of a transmission protocol, which controls the data flow between a transponder (12) and a read/write device (16). The protocol data is analyzed by a control device (10) to determine the duration of an active phase of the antenna. Transmission time for controlling the antenna is dynamically adjusted based on the analysis of the protocol data during transmission and reception processes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program including program code for execution of a method for determining an active phase of an antenna (2) a device for determining an active phase of an antenna.
