The method involves moving a measuring sensor (13b), e.g. laser distance sensor, to an edge of a center hole (4) of a wheel (1), after clamping the wheel in a rotary disc (20) of a rotary- and clamping unit. Eccentricity of the centre hole to a rotary axis of the disc is measured by the sensor unit during rotation of the wheel around 360[deg]. The measured value is input as a correction factor to a processing and measuring computer which computationally processes the measurement result. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for measuring a rotationally symmetric component e.g. motor vehicle-wheel.
