To produce a molded body a number of mold elements (2.1-2.3) are made, where each has at least one flat joint surface (F2.3b) with an edge defining the working contour. The mold elements are assembled together as a mold (1) with their contours (L1,L2) in alignment and they are locked together. The mold material is removed by a miller (3) at the aligned contours to give a final mold contour, without removing material completely at a free joint surface for bonding with further molds.
