The cooling unit has a control device (5) detecting errors as a function of output signals from sensors recording actual state of the unit, and storing the errors in a memory. A monitoring device (7) is coupled with the unit in such a way that a visualization device displays the errors. The device (5) displays the last error stored in the memory in a monitoring mode and displays the frequency of all errors in another monitoring mode. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting error conditions of a cooling unit.
