The method involves adjusting a stored recent state/predetermined state of an assigned application e.g. radio/TV application, or group of applications. The adjusted state is displayed on a screen display (2). All/part of the applications are assigned to a group of applications, which are activated by entry into a menu structure/by insertion of a medium into a drive/by language command/by manual operation of an operating unit. An independent claim is also included for a control system for a vehicle.
