A clutch actuator (9) is controlled by a control device (8) in a first operating mode corresponding to a detected path of a clutch pedal (5) operated by a driver. A switch (10) activates a second operating mode of the control device so that the control device controls the clutch actuator independently of the clutch pedal path. The control device preferably maintains the second operating mode until the first operating mode is activated.
