The method involves determining information e.g. road type, about a driving condition of a vehicle by a sensor arranged in a vehicle. The information is supplied to a driver with the help of a vehicle lighting system, which is used for lighting vehicle surroundings. The driver is moved into a position through the selection of situation-specific light characteristics, where the characteristics can be varied based on the condition. An independent claim is also included for an application of a vehicle lighting system of a vehicle.
