The method involves determining an energy input into an electric arc furnace with an aid of an electrical sensor. Vibrations are measured at the electric furnace. One of the state variables is determined with the aid of a transfer function. The transfer function is determined by evaluation of the measured vibrations and evaluation of measured data of one of the electrical sensors. An independent claim is also included for an electric arc furnace.
