The method involves supplying oil to machine components e.g. clutch (30), gear wheel (38) and planetary gear (45), by an oil supply bore hole (28). The bore hole is fed with oil by rotating shaft, and oil quantity transferred by the components is measured. Oil pressure in the inner bore hole is measured using a pressure absorber. A power input of a pump, which supplies oil to the bore hole and that is driven by the shaft, is measured. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring oil distribution in a gear component.
