Four jet nozzles element over the surfaces of a membrane (17) are used for cleaning a vertical surface and horizontal surface section. A door plate (18) is preceded directly after the opening of a coke oven chamber into a housing, in which the nozzles elements are arranged. The heated air is compressed with a compressor. The amount of air is controlled by single solenoid valves and the air pressure is controlled by pressure control valves and the door is cleaned by a programmed electronic drive. Compressed air is sucked off from the housing by a suction apparatus during cleaning and the cleaned tar is collected in a collecting tray. The housing and the jet nozzle elements are heated. The compressed air is transferred by the jet nozzle elements in rotation and in pulsation. An independent claim is included for a coke oven door cleaning device.
