A part network space defragmentation procedure uses net mask parameters to determine if part networks (105) are connectable, accesses the networks in a list of available nets, compares each part net with all other part nets to determine if all part nets are mutually connectable and updates the list to replace these with a super network. Independent claims are included for systems using the procedure.
