The device (1) is for the reduction of the barrel for a firearm for the discharge of ammunition smaller than that originally used, so that the reduction (3) coincides with the dimensions of the smaller ammunition (2). Expenditure for the individual cartridges is notably reduced, in that the cartridge locating area (5) of the barrel reduction is enclosed radially by an adapter casing (7) within a casing accommodation (6) connected with the ammunition. The cartridge locating area enclosing the ammunition is formed to take up the firing force.
