The device has an intake manifold (30) and a compression unit. An intercooler with a flow channel for supercharged air is provided in a supercharged air pathway (50). Combustion air is driven in the intake manifold or in the supercharged air pathway and is subsequently mixed with exhaust gas in an exhaust gas recirculation pathway (40) through the intercooler. The flow channel is made of aluminium or aluminium alloy.
