The device has a software (16), which automatically operates and boots an instrument, if the device is connected with the instrument, where the instrument has an operating system e.g. Windows operating system. The software boots the instrument such that the operating system of the booted instrument is automatically restored. The device is connected in the universal serial bus port of the instrument. An independent claim is also included for a method of using a universal serial bus storage device.
