A multilayer filter (10) comprises a stack having a varistor part (3) having a conductive layer and a varistor layer and an inductor part (3) having a conductive layer and an inductor layer. Zinc oxide is the main component of the varistor layer with at least one of additional elements from praseodymium, bismuth, cobalt and aluminum; the inductor layer is essentially zinc oxide with no cobalt or aluminum.
