Catalytically converting a nitrogen oxide in an exhaust gas stream mixed with ammonia to form water and nitrogen comprises feeding the gas stream (A) together with an added catalytically active substance (S) to a reaction chamber (2). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a process for reacting a catalyst module (3) produced by depositing a catalytically active material in or on a catalyst substrate (31) comprising wetting the catalyst module with a catalytically active substance; (b) a fuel for burning in a combustion process containing the catalytically active substance; and (c) an exhaust gas purification device for a power station or a vehicle combustion engine comprising an injection device for injecting the catalytically active substance into the fuel.
