The modular table system has at least one tabletop (2) with three or more corners (3) with table legs (5). The at least two table legs each have two or more undercut longitudinal grooves so that each table leg stay can be detachably connected to the leg by a connector engaging in the groove. The connector has a tension element which has at one end a profiled part engaging against the undercut section in the groove and at the other end a head part which engages in an eccentric quick fit mechanism pivotally mounted on the stay. The eccentric presses the stay against the leg by the tension element. The eccentric is operated by a handle which in the release state of the eccentric lies transversely to the table top.
