The control circuit has sensors (10, 15), which sense the condition of the roadway from movement of the vehicle. A control mechanism (12) is present which pre-selects an optimally suitable course for reducing the speed of the vehicle. The mechanism is capable of adjusting the pedal position so as to start the vehicle. The mechanism is preset with parameters such as weight of the vehicle or wind conditions. An independent claim is also included for the starting mechanism.
