The backlash-free transmission has one of the two possible pairings of the flanks of all gearwheel teeth in mesh brought about exclusively by means of a pretensioning. The pretensioning through all elements/stages of a transmission train is effected by means of a twin transmission train. The rotational direction of the pretensioning and therefore the flank pairing is reset or reversed in conformance with the load rotation or torque characteristic. Two commercially available sub-transmissions can be used in a parallel arrangement.
