Device (2) for measuring and marking horizontal and vertical distances has body (4) on the base which houses square cross sectioned telescopic scales (6,8,10) which can be extended to read the distance against a scale point (24). The body of device has a spirit level (26). The innermost scale has turned end (18). Telescopic scales have distance marking (20) on them.
