The timer socket has a reed relay and an output relay that are operated in sequence. A socket and the electrical appliance are set out of operation, when the output relay is held in an activated condition by a trigger circuit (4). A time adjustment process is completed so that the current path of the circuit is opened while switching off the appliance. The relay is then triggered in such a manner that it reverts to the initial position.
