The process involves inserting in a video content a general identifier relative to a service, and broadcasting the content. A specific identifier associated to a television receiver is determined from the general identifier and a function table associated to the receiver. The service corresponding to the general identifier is provided to a user of the receiver based on a specific modality indicated by the associated specific identifier. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a system for providing customized interactive television service (B) a computer program, to be installed in a controller of a television receiver, including instructions to implement a process of providing customized interactive television service.
