The system has a pump diode (12) emitting a pump beam (5) whose wave length varies with temperature, and a collimation unit (13) associated with the diode. A selective mirror (14) selects a wavelength of the diode and has a set of reflectivity peaks for locking the operation of the diode on one of the peaks during a change in temperature of the diode such that the system emits the beam, where the wavelength of the beam varies in steps corresponding to a set of preset wavelengths during the change in temperature.
