SLUDGE THICKENING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR THICKENING SLUDGE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a change in property of raw sludge introduced into a sludge thickening apparatus and the malfunction of flocculant injection at an early stage, and prevent the idle operation of a screw and a pump for thickened sludge of the thickening apparatus. PSOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a filtration screen part placed on the side lower than the position of the water surface of a sludge flocculation tank, separating the water content of flocculated sludge, which is introduced from a first end part into the inside of a cylindrical body, from the inner face of the cylindrical body to the outer surface to be passed through, the screw locating inside the cylindrical body, cleaning the inner face of the filtration screen part, transferring the flocculated sludge from the first end part to the other end part and discharging it as concentrated sludge, a separated liquid discharge port containing a separated liquid separated from the filtration screen part to the outside of the cylindrical body, also provided on an exterior container submerging the filtration screen part of the cylindrical body in the separated liquid and discharging the separated liquid separated outside the cylindrical body, and a differential pressure gauge for measuring the difference of the water head of the flocculated sludge of a sludge feed trough and the separated liquid of the exterior container.
