PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide easy and efficient access to a desired tile in a JPEG2000 code. PSOLUTION: The apparatus for generating a JPEG2000 code or JPEG2000 family format (JP2, JPX, JPM) file records a method for dividing the code into tile parts, that is information of division, as shown in Fig. 3, indicating execution at a border position (change position) of an attribute (resolution level, layer or component), into a COM segment of code or a UUIDDBox or XMLBox of the file. When processing the code or a file, because of allowing to detect the method for dividing from the information of division, the apparatus can distinguish the numbers of desired tiles and easily and efficiently access to the tiles.
