METHOD FOR EXTRACTING POLYMERIC SILK PROTEIN FROM SILKWORM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the water extraction of liquid silk in the body of silkworm having unstable protein structure to obtain the silk in the form of a polymeric silk protein without causing the transition of the protein structure and a method for the preservation of the silk by drying and solidifying the liquid silk.;SOLUTION: A matured silkworm or a premature silkworm is starved and the silkgland is pushed out by squeezing the worm from the head to the tail of the silkworm by using a roller-shaped tool. The silkgland is finely cut in water and cells are removed to obtain liquid silk. The liquid silk is gently stirred in water at 20-30°C to dissolve silk protein, water is exchanged at an interval of 30-120 min to separately extract silk sericin and silk fibroin having different solubility in water, and the silk protein is dried and solidified on a flat plate and stored as a film having high solubility in water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
