PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder count error detecting circuit and an encoder count error detecting method for detecting a count error in a count signal used for measuring a displacement and achieving a reliable encoder.;SOLUTION: The encoder count error detecting circuit outputs a pulse sequence corresponding to the displacement of a measured object. The count signal is obtained by multiplying one or more base signals (phase A, phase B) used for measuring the displacement by 2, 3 or 4. The encoder count error detecting circuit and the detecting method detect the count error in the count signal by comparing an output signal (Count(0)) from a counter for counting the count signal with levels of the base signals (phase A, phase B).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
