PERCUTANEOUS PROSTHETIC SPINAL DISC NUCLEUS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elongate prosthetic spinal disc nucleus to be implanted deeply in a nucleus cavity in a spinal disc space of a human body. PSOLUTION: A prosthetic spinal disc nucleus 20 to be implanted in the nucleus cavity of the spinal disc made with a pair of vertebral bodies forming end plates facing each other and an endless annular band comprises: an almost inelastic restricted jacket 24 which has roughly fixed circumference and length, a roughly fixed maximum capacity less than the volume of the nucleus cavity, and a height corresponding to a plain almost orthogonal to the end plates facing each other, and retains an initial buried volume presenting a rough elliptic cross-section due to the end plates facing each other during transplantation; and an amorphous polymer core 22 inserted in the restricted jacket in a fluid state.
